Plant-based materials and material practices

It also includes understanding of when certain materials are used, how they are handled with care, and how experience is transmitted between practitioners, workshops, families or other knowledge holders.

These forms of knowledge connect natural source materials, embodied skill, technical judgement, local ecological familiarity and intergenerational transmission.

Working knowledge - preparation and handling

The resource should explain, in introductory form, that Tibetan incense practices may involve identification of plant materials, drying and sorting, grinding or powder preparation, blending in careful proportions, and adjustment based on climate, humidity, aroma intensity and use context.

The goal is not to provide a replicable formula or a complete production manual. The goal is to demonstrate that Tibetan incense involves a chain of traditional material knowledge situated at the interface between biological source materials and cultural practice.
